Can't remember what that game was called though, might be Soma (runs on Unreal Engine 4)? Anyway, this game's vibrant colour palette and sea setting immediately gives it a different feel to other games and I find it strangely relaxing and engaging to play and explore. This game reminds of another game where you crash on an alien world and have to survive the cold weather and explore to find out more about the world. Open world survival games from independent developers are ten a penny these days and after the initial buzz they tend to get very repetitive after a couple of hours and I lose interest in them. What a great game! It really surprised me at just how enjoyable this game is. I forgot about this game after picking up cheap-ish during Early Access but returned to it earlier on this week to check out the final build. The biggest fault of the game is still inventory management their are things you can do to make it easier but end of the day it is never a good or fun thing to have to do it is just something you can mitigate by having loads of lockers all set out in a single location.Īnyone know how the time capsule is meant to work? Does it upload and then my capsule has a chance of appearing in other players games? That would be pretty cool if that's the case. Your option each and every time is to run it just adds a real tension to everything you do once you get in to the dark deeper parts of the game world. This game though their is no point in the game where you can stand your ground against the Levianthans. Well I finally finished the game and yeah what a fantastic game, so full of atmosphere, wonderful lore and jump scares that are actually scary, it's really weird games that pit you against bad guys that get tougher as you go on usually get a bit boring later on in the game when you suddenly have weapons and equipment that make dealing with them a piece of cake.

Most folk would say the act of getting to some of the locations is enough of a 'key' only to then have the entire progress stopped by something silly.

You can spend hours setting up equipment and bases to get you to where you need to go, you can then spend hours finding the location, working your way through the danger and all the work is for nowt simply because you don't have some daft key for the thing. well hit a door that needs another Purple Tablet to progress through and I have no idea where to get one from.Īnd that's the one problem I have with this game so far, is this simple old school Doom style get the right colour key to open the door. get there pick up a Blue Tablet use my one remaining Purple Tablet and. Anyway, all set, all resupplied I start out for the Alien Thermal Plant. I then decide to set up a halfway resupply base in side the Lost River, this was going to be small, self sustaining, a place to provide food, water and a recharge point, after many hours later I ended up with a base that I would happily use now instead of my Shallows Base, see base building in Subnatica is like Pringles, once you start you just can't stop. I mined as much Kyanite as I could and after some hot swapping of Power Cells I opted to return to my Shallow's base, barely making it back with 15% power left in my remaining power cells. I anyway after much hunting around I finally got the Cyclops in to the Lava Area but was a bit worried about power requirements, I had burned through over half my Power Cells and was worried I would not have enough to get to the planet and make it back and frankly the Prawn Suit is just too slow, and too open to attack. The idea was to take the Cyclops as far in to the Lava Zone as possible, drop the Prawn Suit and then make the final journey there in that.įirst journey down revealed some real issues, firstly I can't see anything, not a damn thing, so I am having to resort to using the Cyclops sonar system which makes mapping the route so much easier but uses a ton of power. got my Cyclops all set up, plenty of power packs (12 of them), self sufficient grow beds providing food and water built inside and a fully depth modded Prawn Suit to traverse the deeper regions. I've found most of the alien facilities, so was preping myself to travel to the Alien Thermal Plant.
